He was born and raised in Portland, OR and was a high school and college national wrestling champion. After 4 years in Arizona and 5 years in California, he returned to Oregon in 1984 to raise his family. He currently lives in Henderson, NV with his wife of 37 years, Ava. They have three grown children; Sean, Stephen and Kera.

Kerry has been a volunteer coach and has served on non-profit boards such as the YMCA and Clackamas Community College. His hobbies include golf, hiking and biking.
